How Often to Groom Your Pet’s

How many of you have recently gotten a puppy or adopted a dog and aren’t sure how often they need to be bathed, groomed or trimmed? Or even how big or small they just may be?
Each breed has different needs, therefore requiring different grooming techniques.
Generally speaking double-coated dogs or dogs that do not get shaved should get groomed every 8-12 weeks. This kind of grooming means a bath, brushing, nail trim and any minor trimming depending on the breed such as a paw trim, feather trim, ear trim, etc.
For example our dog Tia (Siberian Husky) gets a bath with brushing, a nail trim and paw trim every 2 months. Duke (Great Pyrenees) gets the same, but he also needs much more trimming on his paws, hind end, ears and feathers/furnishings (behind his front legs).
Breeds that do get a full groom or shave should generally be every 6-8 weeks. Again this varies still from breed to breed. Some hair grows faster than others and some just have a different coat depending what breeds they are and which breed has the more dominant trait on their coat. For these breeds another good idea is to bring them for a bath and nail trim in between grooming appointments to prevent matting.
Although it is different for every dog, grooming is still very important to introduce right away, even if that just means a bath.
When Tia was a puppy she despised her first bath. I will never forget it. She would not stop crying the whole time, but she only did it the first time. She was a puppy , it is expected. She never whined again and now loves bath time because she knows it makes her even more pretty! Sometimes it takes a few tries to get used to everything. Duke on the other hand will let you do anything, he is very easy going!
We hope this gives you a better idea on how often your visits should be, we hope to see you soon!
